9th September 2010 Newsletter First Academic Blues presented
On Monday 6th September, Students who gained Excellence endorsement in the 2009 NCEA examinations were presented with an academic blue. Excellence endorsement requires gaining 50 credits or more at excellence. Lucy Smythe, an ex-Mahurangi College head girl from 1995, spoke and presented the academic blues to 12 Level 1 (2009) and 4 Level 2 (2009) students.

Once upon a time in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. But then, one winter’s night, an old beg- gar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold.

19 August 2010 Newsletter Careers Night 2010
Careers Evening 2010 took place on Tuesday 10th Aug in the new Gym. The room was full of exhibits from over 90 individuals with up to 25 of the presenters being past pupils of Mahurangi College. Mrs Newlove along with her assistant, Mrs Bartlett and their merry helpers had created an event that allowed Mahurangi students and parents to get information on just about every career possible.

The new hall was a perfect venue for our annual State of the Arts evening, One guest noted that ‘anything looks good in this hall’, I thought to myself that any venue looks great with our Senior Art on display!

29 July 2010 Newsletter Hockey Clubs hold a Successful Trivial Pursuits Evening The college hockey club ran its annual Trivial Pursuits evening at the end of June which was very well supported by the community. Host for the evening, Viv Wyatt, keep the questions coming in a entertaining manner, and quiz master, Wayne Frost, keep the tables scratching their heads with a broad range of questions
